fatigue, pain, nausea/vomiting, appetite loss). For each QLQ-C30 domain a so-called item bank, from which the CAT selects the items for each patient, has been developed. The new items have the same item and response format as the QLQ-C30 items. The new instrument encompasses a total of 262 items.

For the evaluation of cancer Thresholds for clinical importance for four key domains of the EORTC QLQ-C30: physical functioning, emotional functioning, fatigue and pain For each QLQ-C30 domain a so-called item bank, from which the CAT selects the items for each patient, has been developed. The new items have the same item and response format as the QLQ-C30 items. The new instrument encompasses a total of 262 items. As the QLQ-C30 items are included in the item banks, the CAT is backward-compatible with the QLQ-C30. We calculated area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) to evaluate QLQ-C30 scores' ability to discriminate between patients with no versus some unmet need based on SCNS-SF34 items/domains. For QLQ-C30 domains with AUC ≥ 0.70, we calculated the sensitivity, specificity, and predictive value of various cutoffs for identifying unmet needs.
Borderline cutoff scores (sensitivity ≥0.70 and specificity ≥0.60 or sensitivity ≥0.80 and specificity ≥0.50) were found on 5 other domains. In the social domain, the QLQ-C30 scale was more responsive [DR = 0.28 (0.024, 0.54)] and more efficient within arm only [RE = 5.25 (1.21, 232.26)]. In the physical, functional/role, and emotional domains, neither questionnaire was more responsive or efficient.

For all EORTC domains with the ability to discriminate between patients with and without unmet needs (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve [AUC] ≥0.70), the accuracy (eg, sensitivity and specificity) of potential cutoff scores were calculated. 2018-01-01 with the EORTC QLQ-C30 domains.

They can guide health care professionals to correctly identify and interpret changes in QoL scores that are meaningful to patients. Clinicians explicitly state that they need threshold scores to enable them to correctly interpret the results for individual patients.
As has been shown in Item Response The-ory analyses [13], the QLQ-C30 items differ in item
The EORTC QLQ-C30 consists of 30 questions, resulting in a two-item global health status/QoL scale, five multi-item functional scales (physical functioning, role functioning, emotional functioning, cognitive functioning and social functioning), three multi-item symptom scales (fatigue, nausea/vomiting and pain) and six single-item symptom
The EORTC QLQ-C30 domains of pain and physical and role functioning performed well in that they converged and diverged appropriately with the other instruments. The domain of psychological functioning had strong associations with domains thought to be dissimilar (social interaction and fatigue). For QLQ-C30, higher (better) scores in all functioning (e.g. physical functioning, HR 0.432 [0.351–0.533]) or global domains were significantly associated with longer OS (p < 0.03); whereas higher (worse) scores in fatigue, nausea/vomiting, pain (HR 1.865 [1.584–2.197]), dyspnea, insomnia, appetite loss, diarrhea and financial difficulties
Variables for the discriminant analysis were selected to correspond as closely as possible to the content of the QLQ-C30 domains. In some cases, the content was quite similar (e.g., pain on the QLQ-C30 and pain on the SCNS-SF34).

The subscales of Home Management, Work and Recreation/ Pastime were combined to create one overall domain 'Role Functioning'. Similarly, body care movement, mobility and ambulation were com-bined into an 'Overall Physical Functioning' scale. Responses to the 40 PRO items were described and psychometric analyses based on Rasch measurement theory (RMT) were conducted on the original multi-item domains of the EORTC QLQ-C30. RMT analysis defines how a set of items should perform to generate reliable and valid measurements, which is important for the generalizability of the PRO instrument's psychometric evaluations to other … 2021-03-23 Instrument Domains/purpose Schedule Global HRQoL measures EORTC‐QLQ‐C30 Multiple symptom and functioning domains, including pain, fatigue, and overall health status/QoL Baseline and every 6 weeks Disease symptom measures EORTC‐QLQ‐MY20 Disease symptoms, future perspective, body image, side effects Baseline and every 6 weeks The QLQ-C30.
